The types of screw heads that can be used by automatic screw machines are limited by the design principles of their screw pickup and tightening mechanisms.Common screw head types include Phillips, slotted, hexagonal, and torx heads.Screws of different head types vary in shape, size, and tightening methods.Automatic screw machines primarily use two methods for screw pickup:vacuum suction and mechanical gripping.Vacuum suction is suitable for screw heads with flat,non-porous surfaces, such as common Phillips screws, using vacuum suction to secure and pick up the screws. However, vacuum suction is less effective for screw heads with holes or irregularities, such as those with heat dissipation holes, and can easily cause the screws to fall off or fail to be picked up.

Mechanical gripping is relatively adaptable to a wider range of screw head types, but it also has limitations. The shape and size of the gripper jaws must match the screw head type. For example, hexagonal screws require specialized hexagonal gripper jaws for gripping and tightening. If the screw head size exceeds the gripper's applicable range,or the head's unusual shape prevents the gripper from accurately grasping the screw, the gripper will not function properly.Furthermore, the surface roughness of the screw head can affect gripping effectiveness;excessively smooth or rough surfaces can lead to unstable gripping.

Also, the automatic screw machine's tightening mechanism must be compatible with the screw head shape.Screws with different head shapes require different torque transmission methods when tightening. For example, slotted screws are prone to slipping, requiring a more stable tightening mechanism;Torx head screws require a specific Torx bit for tightening. Therefore, when selecting an automatic screw machine,it's important to confirm that the machine's gripping and tightening mechanisms are compatible with the actual screw head shape being used to avoid impacting production efficiency and quality due to incompatibility with the screw head shape.
